I celebrated my wedding anniversary on the 1st of February. I am really fortunate to have a lovely wife like Kusum. On the 2nd of February my daughter celebrated her birthday for the family at Crossroads Cafe and on the 3rd she celebrated her birthday with her friends at Park Street Mews.
On the 8th of February I went to the first death anniversary of my friend Bertie Gunasekera, a talented photographer, a school friend and most of all an outstanding human being.
This month has been a month of breakdowns. The timer in our air fryer packed up and I took it to Dinapala, the local agent for Philips. They took two weeks but repaired it to our satisfaction. It cost Rs 3,500 which was well worth. The microwave also packed up and Singer wants Rs 6,950 for the rapair. A new one costs Rs 9,000 at Softlogic and my son in law is looking for the invoice. Its just two years old and he says he paid for an extended warranty. The third breakdown was my Sony phone. It showed how we are now dependent on this device. No contacts and no phone to carry. My sister gave me a Samsung Note 3 which helped after two days. Ridmika Mobile returned the phone with no charge. That was very gracious of them. The fourth was a non functioning fan in the house which was replaced by Siripala our family electrician. The fifth was a non functioning flood lamp which I managed to get removed. The sixth was a curtain rail which was repaired for Rs 600.
